Although the past couple years have been tough on everyone, one of the things that I’ve found to be grateful for is getting more time to get to know my couples before their wedding days. Between all the emails, shared headaches and logistics of postponing dates, moving venues, and making sure we can have safe events, I was in super close communication with all my pandemic wedding couples. It also meant I was (and still am!) in touch with these couples for a lot longer than usual.
Kaitlyn and Emily are one of these couples for me. For the past couple years we talked about food on instagram, emailed back and forth about venues and moving dates multiple times, and were finally able to meet at their wedding this August. I wasn’t surprised that they were just as laid-back and sweet in person as I found them to be throughout our time planning together.
Their wedding was a true reflection of them. They chose Iroquois Springs Camp in the Hudson Valley as their new wedding venue, and spent the whole day outside dancing and hanging out with their friends and family. I teared up several times during their wedding, especially during their ceremony that would have made Voldemort cry (I said it, don’t care) and their first dance which they obviously put a ton of time and care into. You can always tell what people are like by the people they surround themselves with, and these two have built an amazing community for themselves. It always seems like I’m barely scratching the surface when I do these little blog write-ups, so maybe the photos will do a better job of showing how beautiful and happy they are together.
