From the first time I talked with Jason and he mentioned that he was a huge Seinfeld fan, I knew we were going to be a good match. On top of that, he and Danielle are both in publishing and were planning a Housing Works Bookstore Cafe wedding. Housing Works is an awesome non-profit book shop in Soho, that also holds events and weddings. Being surrounded by books at a wedding is just really calming (plus, you can grab one off the shelf behind you while you eat dinner. It’s great). Being a New York wedding photographer is so fun because there are just so many cool venues and unique spots to shoot in.
Danielle, Jason and I spent a little over an hour wandering around the neighborhood before the ceremony, taking photos and stopping for coffee. They completely trusted me and let me stuff them into the little crevices and graffiti-ed spots that make New York inspiring to shoot. They laughed the entire time. I can’t help but love couples who don’t take themselves too seriously. They also got some good advice about marriage from people passing by (thank god for those wise words from random strangers, where would we be without them?).
The rest of their wedding was super relaxed, basically a big family party with lots of food and those jokes that only your family gets. I’m always very grateful for my couples, who tend to keep things focused on the people at their wedding, and on everyone having an awesome time. Anyway, the photos can tell the story better…
