When Alura and Robert first reached out, I knew we were going to be perfect together. They said that as far as photography, they loved “the simple shots that wind up being dramatic with using light in a creative way, or a different focal point other than just faces.” When they went on to tell me that they loved cooking and crafts, weren’t frilly or glam, and just wanted a slightly spooky wedding that was casual and fun, I was in love immediately.
We set up their first look on the waterfront with the NY skyline in the background, then headed over to the venue for their ceremony. An Avenue A Club wedding was perfect for them. It has a very industrial feel, tons of antique cars and motorcycles, and is totally made of brick. I wanted to make sure that their photos reflected their love of all things creepy and retro, so I snuck them outside for some night portraits using floodlights and some 1950-esque flash.
Special little thank-you to my second photographer Malvina, for the shot of Rob getting ready!
