Shaza’s intricate embroidery hoops kept coming up in my Instagram feed, and I couldn’t stop thinking of how cool it would be to incorporate them into a shoot. They reminded me of petri dishes full of microbes, which eventually led us to the idea of a moody science/anatomy theme. We wanted to do something unique, that could be used as inspiration for a scientist’s or doctor’s wedding or an elegant Halloween shindig. Macabre-chic? A 10 hour shoot in 95 degree heat with no AC, and we couldn’t be happier.
