The word that comes to mind when I think of how Kate and JJ’s wedding felt is “gentle.” Everyone was calm, the weather was cool and overcast, and there was just a really nice atmosphere all day. Being a Connecticut documentary wedding photographer many times means backyard and tented weddings, which I love!
Kate and JJ met when Kate was banding birds in Washington state and JJ was building hiking trails (I always wondered who did that). They wanted their wedding to reflect their love of the outdoors, so they decided to have a backyard wedding in Canton, Connecticut, at JJ’s family’s house. JJ built the beautiful arch for their ceremony, which makes sense, since he’s an arborist. Their wedding was simple, meaningful, and included all the things you’d want at a backyard wedding: a bonfire, s’mores, kids running around, and lots of dancing.
