This week I got to meet up with Eric, Megan and Ramen for their Connecticut engagement photos at Great Hollow Lake. They’re getting married next spring, and it’s always nice to get to meet up beforehand and shoot.
Eric and I actually grew up next door to each other wayyyy back when in a neighborhood overrun with kids (popsicles, bowl cuts, and playing tag after dark. 90’s style). He had the best swing set, which everyone invited themselves to often.
I love when couples bring their dogs to their session–Ramen hung out with us for the first half hour, and then was taken on a walk by Megan and Eric’s friend so we could do some photos of just the two of them. Dogs usually get kind of antsy after the 30 minute mark, so it works out pretty well.
We had the most relaxed time shooting together. These three have such a calm energy (okay maybe Ramen wasn’t completely calm but he was very well behaved anyway). Since we were going to be shooting in the woods, I suggested either sunset or sunrise/morning for their session. We decided on morning, and I’m really happy we did. Morning light is so beautiful, especially in the winter. We shot a little after sunrise. I think mornings have become my new favorite time of day to shoot. We decided on Connecticut engagement photos because the location is sort of in the middle for them both. At the moment they’re long-distance–which I have a lot of respect for.
Remembering Eric as a little guy living next door to us, and now seeing his obvious joy and contentment with Megan, made me tear up! Sweet engagement shoot ~ real and filled with the energy of their love!
Thank you 🙂
